69 TH-400 Flexiplate Question, Does anybody know...
how many teeth the flexiplate for a 69 model with a TH-400 has? Is it 153 or 162? This is in reference to the GM mini-starter post by MIKER a couple of day ago.
Thanx

All stock small blocks came with a 153. most if not all mini's can be adjusted for each kind. Also 75% engaugement is good according to my mini-sarter tech line.

I used to think that all THM-400 flexplates were 153 teeth, too. However, I found out differently (much to my embarrassment). As it turns out, 68+ with THM-400 use a 168 tooth ring gear flexplate.

Thanks Joe!
I have also seen a 168 on a 70's 4X4 pickup. I tend to think it wasn't that common.
I put a 168 on mine, for 20 years and have never had starter motor problems.
