I've got something that I need for someone to check out if you don't mind. I need to know what your fan looks like. How many blades? Does it have notches at the top of each fan blade? Thanks.
Mine's not a '71, but the 68-72 A/C cars had a seven blade notched fan/clutch as I understand it. The notched part was there to clear the two bolts on the upper shroud mount.
SPAL is the company name for the Italian firm that makes those fans...

Just took these pics for you (any excuse to go check on my baby). It's a '72 BB with AC. Fan has 7 blades. Hope this helps
Mmk. I bought a new fan from Zip a few months ago. It's a seven blade with notches in the blades. Supposedly for a 71 with AC. Then I went to Napa today to get a clutch (because the clutch and fan assembly on my car is not stock ) The clutch that was ordered was for a 71 350 with AC. The holes didn't match up with the fan. So we measured it and it matched the part number at Napa for a 71 350 WITHOUT AC. I'm just trying to figure out which one (Napa or Zip) was wrong. I'm not one for originality, but I figured it would cool better with the correct fan. What is the difference between a fan for a 71 350 with AC and one without? Thanks guys.
My 71 SB/TH400 w/ AC has lots of mods, but is stock in the cooling system layout (for now). I will check tonight. Just don't remember right now whether the fan blades are notched or not.
