Default Stupid question

Does anyone have a picture of what the metal support that goes under the front spoiler on an 80-82 is supposed to look like? Mine's been cut off and re-welded back on a couple of times by various bubbas and at this point, I've got no CLUE where it's actually supposed to be or what it's supposed to look like.

I was a Sargeant, not a General, so I don't mind

My 82 is handy on the lift so we can search around a bit, but I can't see what you are looking for. The air dam is the spoiler you are talking about? Mine is bolted to some unaccesable member above a rubberized shield. I can send you some pics I took from under, but they don't show much. Glad to dig around a bit if I had more info. Craig

Here are a few shots from under. Is this what you need to find out how to mount? http://community.webshots.com/myphot...ecurity=EdsURG

Ah ha! That's it. Mine is close to that in position, but I'm not sure it's low enough anymore. The rubber part is long gone on my car and the air dam has a big assed hole in the front. I wanted to make sure where to put the proper support before replacing the dam this summer.

Thanks!

Great. I'll try to crank myself around and get a shot inside/underneth/somewhere that shows more how it's mounted. If the bolts aren't frozen, I might be able to remove it and get a better view or some measurements. Maybe this weekend if I get time. Right now it's obvious it sits just a bit lower than that metal "skid pad" that is showing it's good use (red and rusty). Curbs and curb stops do take their toll on the undersides. I'm almost tempted to install a skid plate like I have on my 4x4

I got the same problem on mine, all pushed up in the middle, was like that when I got it. When I get it all straightned out I was thinking about putting a limit switch unert there with a wire arm sticking out to touch parking curbs and the like, it would turn on a light and/or buzzer on the dash to say STOP!

thoughts?

Wow, so this is how it's supposed to be supported. My 81 has been just hanging down with support from the sides and back edge. i don't even think that I have that metal psupport in the middle.

copter: Thanks. We love it, too. OEM Charcoal metallic. I also have the aluminum wheels chromed. Lots easier to keep clean and shiney (lazy ) Other than pinstiping and some temporary flames, she's pretty much factory. Never touched under the hood, 'cept for a tuneup now and then.

Xakk: I forgot we have a wedding shower thingie this weekend, so I might not get into the front end for more pictures, until next week. Janet says I have to stay clean - darn
