Default Quick Question

Ok I just installed a accel super coil hei. Now my car will not start it turns over and is getting spark but will not start which leads me to belive that the ignition module is bad. The one that is in there is a autozone cheap. So my question is to i need to upgrade the iginition module since i installed the super coil or will another cheap one work.

had the same thing happen to me. I replaced mine w/an accel module, why put in any cheap parts now. your trying to add hp & performance cheap parts won't help.

If EVERYTHING else is correct ... the pickup is bad ... you have to pull the gear off & shaft out to replace pickup.
-edit-correct pickup is "Standard Ignition" P/N LX-302

It's a drive pin ... you drive it out/in with a punch/drift & hammer.-edit- drive pin ... aka drift pin ... aka roll pin

Default arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ok got eveything back together now i have a new pickup, ignigtion modual, cap and rotor, accel hei supercoil in cap. Still nothing it is just turning over and not getting fire. I dont know what else to do except try the old coil to make sure i did not get a bad supercoil from advance auto parts. Other than that every thing in this dist is new except for the shaft which was cleaned before i reassembled it. all wires are attached except the tack wire because it broke i will fix that in the morning. This is starting to tick me off i was hoping to enjoy driving the vette over spring break this week with a new dist before going back to college.

It could be the wrong coil.
Wire colors are different on some make of GM cars and they give you the wrong one.

Hopefully, you didn't ground the tach wire... you might check to make sure you have hot to the cap just in case..otherwise, maybe this will help in some way...

click on the pics to enlarge, then float your mouse to get another enlargent button..

Are you getting any spark to the plugs?
check my pulling a boot off a plug, stick a screwdriver in the boot and hold it close to a ground while someone turns the motor over, strong blue spark = good, weak yellow spark = bad, go from there

i dont think i am getting spark becasue if i was getting spark wouldnt the car start, but i will check it in the morning becuase it is something that could be the problem. the thin is it turns over but wont fire. when i first installed it i was 180 out and it backfired through the carb so i aligned it and got it in order, but nothing happend so i replaced the ingintion modual and still nothing then i was told in an earlier post to check the stator/pickup well found that was rusted bad replaced that cleaned the shaft and the teeth that are on it that come in contact with the pick but still nothing.
