I am really trying to find out what engine it has. It says on the plate in the car that it is a 427 with 435 hp and 460 lb/ft torque and 11.0:1 compression. It also has a holley 4 barrel, but I thought the 435 hp had a tri-power.
The vin number 194678s400062 is as follows: you have a very early 68 convertiable assembled in st louis. in fact it was the 61 car off the assembly line that year. ist vin was 194378s400001. the 4th digit denotes body style 3=coupe,6=convert. the car was built in august of 67. there are more numbers on the car you might want to check out. one is on a pad in front of the engine just below the head on the passengers side. it will tell you where and when the engine was built and whether it was the original engine for the car. there is a trim tag mounted on the drivers door pillar. this unpainted stainless plate has the build date exterior color paint and interior color/leather or vinyl nterior. also there are numbers on the xmission and rear end that will tell you if the transmission was original to the car or a replacement likewise on the rear end housing it will also tell you the rear end ratio and whether it was original to the car.

One of my books says production numbers should run 100001 to 122940, the other says 400001 to 428566 so as 694speed350 says, you have an early one.
Look for the engine number, should be on a boss on the right front of the engine block.
If it has either IM, IO, IR or IU at the end then it shoud be the 427 with a 3x2 BC....
The engine you are quoting should have a code of something like V0101IR where V is Flint plant, 01 is month built ( January in this example ), 01 is day ( 1st in this example ) and IR is the 427 CID 435 HP 11.0:1 Comp with 3x2 BC carb and manual trans ( also SHP...Super High Performance )
The 68 model year did not have those data plates on the console, so the plate you have doesn't really tell you anything about what was originally in the car.
