The install shure looks good!

The steering support bearing is not an option with three u joints, it is a requirement. as soon as you load the system the steering shaft will flop around and be a real mess.

Engine is back in. I have not updated those pics yet, but I did update the tie rod pics.

The good news is the two U joint shaft is going to work. The bad news is that I am having to reshape (ie, dent in) the 2nd pipe back on the driver side for extra clearance. Looks like I will have about 1/4" between the header and the upper aluminum joint. This is the same issue I had with Pipe 1 on the old steering gear box. I pounded that in to clear and now it is obvious as can be since the gear box is gone.

I built the hydraboost unit from an 83 Chevy truck and have it ready to go on now too.

The final piece in the puzzle is the modification of my steering column to include:

Wipers
High Beam
Cruise control (custom hidden Audiovox unit).

I have a 2001 Camaro column coming to me now. I will remove these switches and move them into the 69 Vette. I know this can be done because I put a Vette tilt/tele column in my 69 Camaro and modified the wiper, high beam, and cruise there as well.

I have to do some testing to figure out how to wire the wiper switch. I put an 81 Vette delay switch into the stock 69 dash (required some dremel work) and wired it to the 81 Vette delay module. It has worked well, but will be replaced with a map light for a gentle glow over the center gauge/stereo section.

The column will be the last thing in before the rest of that is buttoned up.

I have been talking with Twin Turbo about the tie rod length and position. There are more optimal locations for these to avoid bump steer. However, for giggles and grins I am going to measure it all out once I have the full weight and ride height to work from.

For now, it remains quite possibly the least expensive rack conversion on record. Adding custom length tie rods will alter that final cost figure.

I agree, because this is far less expensive than the alternatives. However, I don't have any interest in that and Steeroids does a great job with mass production of their kit.

However, it should be good inspiration for those that are never going to be able to fork over the $1K for the steeroids kit and have access to a junkyard for the U joints, rack, and two passenger side grand am tie rods and of course a stack of scrap angle iron.
