Default Alternator question
I bought a new AC Delco alternator today for my 81 and installed it. I dont have the forward wiring harness in the car right now, so someone told me i could jump the smaller wire from the 2 wire plug to the battery wire on back of the alternator and it would energize it and allow the car to charge while running, then just unhook it when im done. I tried this but i am not getting the alternator to charge. suggestions or pointers on what may be going on here? Do i have a bad alternator by chance?

almost right. you have to hook up the number 1 pin thru a light bulb to the batt terminal and number 2 to the bat terminal directly. Should work then.

Hmm, looks like 1 is the big one, its closest to the batt terminal
