Default Header removal

I am preparing to pull my motor and trans. on my "78. I will be removing them together. My question is, do I have to remove my headers or is there enough room to have them come out with the motor and trans. Thanks for any advice.

Remove the headers first. You can just disconnect them and let them lay in the car also but I prefer to remove them. They will not come out attached to the motor.

Are you rebuilding your motor, putting in a new one or do you just like to pull motors for fun?

The 1/2hr it takes to remove them in the engine bay, will save you a struggle taking out the motor.

Take them off first!! Jack the front of the car up to give you some clearance and get them off. Remove them from underneath. I know that's the only way mine would go in or out on an '81. I promise, they won't go in or out, unless their shortys, in our similar year models.
