Default Valves In Receiver

Has anyone replaced their VIR I see rebuilt units ranging in price from$109 to $179.Also ecklers lists a VIR elimination kit.Has anyone used the rebuilt units or the VIR elim kit.Any thought would be appreciated,Thanks

I bought one from NAPA when I put A/C in my 73. I don't remember if it was newe or rebuilt -- probably rebuilt though. Although, it may have actually been new since they didn't ask for my old one as a core. It works great though -- better than I can say for the rebuilt compressor I bought at the same time. The clutch seems to have gone out on it.
