I hope someone can help me !! I just installed new wearter striping on my 1980 and can not get the windows to work right. They hit the new weather striping and won't go all the way up with the doors closed. The door panels are removed, and I don't have a clue what to try and adjust. Can you help me PLEASE !!!!
Loosen off the four bolts that hold the window tracks down and the two that hold the window going up in the track. Close the door...power the window up until it seats. Then tighten those bolts. If all is well with your track and regulator this should work.
I thank you very much, the photo is better than 1,000 words. I have fiddeled with this for 4 hrs. and I still have the same problem. With the photo, I understand how it works Thank's you made my day.
Good luck, after replacing weather striping I had the same problem. Followed instructions in shop manual - (see the diagram above) with no luck - the back of the glass kept trying to run inside the weather stripping and the door frame, if I wasn't watching this it could have broken the glass. So after many many hours of frustration - I took it to a Chevy dealership - paid em the $90.00 buck estimate fee to be told that it was the window regulator assymbly. It was bent and would not allow any more outboard adjustment on the window. Guess what the cost of a new regulator from GM is? $345.00! I said thanks, came home and looked em up at the many parts houses and found that they range anywhere from $179.00 to $189.00 - picked up two one left and one right). Figure I might as well replace both and make both windows work right.
