I am getting ready to either get the seats redone or get differnet seats for my C3. I would like to know if anyone knows what seats form differnet corvettes will fit into my car, even with modification to the mounting rails. They do not need to move either because i sit all the way back and i stilll don't have enough room, haha. I would like to put C5 seats in it. Help me out. Thanks
I believe the 2005 seat will fit. I believe C4 and C5 seats will fit. You can usually see them at vendors at Vette shows. Also Ferio seats will fit.

C3's are not known for their roominess, especially one's with non t/t steering columns. I have a friend who custom made aluminum seat frames and had them covered in leather and they look great. He is 6' 4" tall and has plenty of room. I too have heard that Fiero seats will fit and look pretty good also.
Thats awsome. Thanks. The problem is that i live in nowhere NC and they dont exacatly have those kind of shows around here. Do you know where i might be able to purchase C5 seats or anyone that has a set or is planing on changing out there interior in the near futur. I want black seats.
check the guys from the C5 forum....there is almost always somebody parting out or selling the seats. I picked up a really nice set for $500 that I will be installing as soon as the vette gets out of the shop. From what I hear you just re-use the old C3 frame rails and drill 2 new holes in the C5 seats to match the C3 mounting locations. Be patient and sooner or later you will come across a good deal versus paying like $750.
I am in the process of installing 2004 C5 sport seats in my 77 now. The C5 tracks are about an 1 1/4" narrower. I have drilled the rivets out of the mounting brackets at the rear of the seats, redrilled my holes, and rotated the brackets out at the angle required to use the original bolt holes in the 77. The front seat brackets are too tall so I am having some shorter ones made at a metal shop. I'll let you know how it comes out but the seats fit the car really nice. You might could do this easier but I wanted to keep the power tracks. Oh yea, I bought my seats from ebay for $845. They had 15,000 miles on them and looked new. These are black seats. I have seen colors go cheaper but the blacks usually bring a grand in like new condition.
I took a little different route mounting C-5 seats because I didn't want to modify my stock tracks. The seats were bought off the C-5, 4-sale forum @ $550. The biggest problem, as I saw it, was the top adjust latch on the stock tracks and getting clearance from the back support adj cables underneith the C-5 seats. I decided to modify Geo Metro tracks from my local salvage yard. They were a side latch which meant less seat to track clearance issues and lower mount. The Geo tracks needed to have new floor mounts fabricated and that was time consuming. To keep the C-5 seat wing from rubbing on my 69 inner door panel, the rear mounts had to shift the rear of the seat over about 3/4 of an inch. To keep the weight down on the mounts, I drilled lightening holes in them. After alot of effort I was happy with the result. It may have been just as labor intessive to modify the stock tracks, I can only speculate on that. Below is a pic of the original tracks on the left, the mock up of the modified Geo tracks in the middle and the original Geo tracks on the right.

In this picture the tracks are nearly complete with the floor mounts both bolted and welded to the tracks. A few more lightening holes followed by paint and they will be done. Three 1 1/2 fender washers space the front track bolt and two in the back. With this arrangement it sits slightly lower than the original seat.

Thats awesome. Thanks. The problem is that i live in nowhere NC and they don't exactly have those kind of shows around here. Do you know where i might be able to purchase C5 seats or anyone that has a set or is planing on changing out there interior in the near future. I want black seats.
Anthony...
The Charlotte Auto Fair is coming up in two weeks, not this weekend, but next. It's about 5-6 hours away from you and there will be lots of parts available for/from just about every vehicle imaginable.
I have a set of Recaro LS seats that I purchased years ago and they fit in my '73 with little difficulty. They were not cheap, but they are an awesome seat, so there are lots of options for the C3's you might not have considered.
