Bought a chromed Master Cylinder lid from Corvette America - strange thing about it is it has four very small "vent holes" on either side of the domes. Now I realize with the rubber boot inside that should keep the vaccuum in the two chambers. But still..... never seen a Master Cylinder lid with vent holes before. Anyone have any thoughts on the safety of this lid?

I got one too from them and then made it a weekend project to sand and matt spray the rest of the master cylinder black before putting the chrome master cap and bails on it... looks nice and I can still brake on a dime.. (installed 2 months ago... not a problem yet)
lots of other engine cleaning up and rewiring to do yet...

Just thinking out loud here, the holes may be to allow air to enter above the diaphragm so when there is a loss of fluid and the diaphragm is pulled down into the well it will not collapse. You know when you take the lid off and the fluid is low the diaphragm is expanded and you have to put it back into its place. I have an aftermarket lid that has the bleed holes in it. I will have to check my factory lid to see if it had them.
I have bought three of these chrome covers. One for my 72, 73 and 75. On every one the bails did not fit on the covers, and I have to cut and bend them to fit so that they would touch the lid. On the last car I did, my 75, I ended up breaking the bail end so that I could not use it, and ended up spray painting the stock bails silver so that it would not look bad.

Have you had problems on these also.

No, no problem, the bails fit snug and lock the cap in place (I was surprised that I did not have to do any bending!) The only thing that threw me were the vent holes on each side of the domes - they would be between the diaphram and the top of the lid. I also bought the actuator chrome covers a few months ago - but I have to paint up in the front before I put these on - the body shop got a lot of primer over spray in that area - sorta pissed me off a bit on that - because all my hoses where the correct color stripped ones, (green, red, yellow) and I know of no way to get the primer paint off the rubber hoses with out also removing the color stripes.

Notice your power brake booster looks just like mine - are you going to paint that as well - the Master cylinder turned out nice in that picture - BTW
i cleaned paint from all my vacuum hoses and the stripes remained. i used paint and decal remover from NAPA. it comes in an aerosol can.
Cool I will check and see if I can find it - unfortunantely - NAPA stores are few and far between.
Where I am from in Roanoke Virginia - The NAPA used to have their distrobution center there. My dad owned the trucking company that made the nightly runs all over SW Virginia from the late 60's to 75. Many a summer night I had to go along to deliver the parts - we used to use only NAPA or GM parts on all our vehicles.

Yes, I am going to paint the Booster black matt as well.
Then I will chrome the alternator and use a stainless steel hose kit to beautify all the hoses.
Will also be chroming all the pulley wheels. and painting the pumps blue as was their original color.

I store my buddies 73 over the winter for him. When he brought it over last Nov. we of course had to look under the hood to see his latest additions. Brake fluid was spilled all down the front of the booster, his new chrome M/C cover would not sit tight to the casting. The bails were incredibly tight, had a hard time snapping them off. Put the stock one back on. He got his off ebay.
