Here's a formula we use the military to get the Center of Balance (CB) for wheeled vehicles.
FFE= FRONT FOWARD EDGE (VERY FRONT OF VEHICLE)
W1= FRONT AXLE WEIGHT IN POUNDS
D1= DISTANCE IN INCHES FROM "FFE" TO CENTER OF FRONT AXLE
W2=REAR AXLE WEIGHT IN POUNDS
D2= DISTANCE IN INCHES FROM "FFE" TO CENTER OF REAR AXLE
GROSS WEIGHT= W1 + W2
CB= (W1xD1) + (W2xD2) / GROSS WEIGHT
Heres a Humvee (M998) for example:
D1 = 20; D2 = 150; W1 =2870; W2 = 2550
CB = (2870X20) + (2550X150) / 5420
CB = 57400 + 382500 / 5420
CB = 439900 / 5420
CB = 81.16236....
OR CB is 81 inches from FFE

according to my specs, i show total curb weight as 3534. with 1690 on the front and 1844 on the rears. given that, 1690 is 47.9% of 3534 and 1844 is 52.1% of 3534.
Given that, our cars are 47.9 /52.1 weight spilt. i am doing that correctly, right???
