Strange buzzing noise

On my '76, there is a strange buzzing noise that almost sounds like the headlight warning buzzer, but stays on constantly until the battery is disconnected. I have tried turning the headlights on and off and opening and closing the doors and it makes no difference. At one point, I loosened the steering column bolts (from lower dash) to try and access the area above it, and it suddenly stopped. The noise did come back a few months later, however.

Any suggestions on what to check ? I know there is a warning buzzer for the headlights and one for the key in the ignition, any others ?

Do you have an extra needle on your speedo? If so, you have a Speed warning buzzer behind the instruments and an extra cable coming down to adjust it.

Thanks ! I didn't notice one, but I will certainly look to make sure it wasn't removed (or fell off) at some point.

there's a seatbelt warning that sounds like that.behind passenger dash.
