Default 73 vette tech questions Need an expert

I have been told that on a 73 L82 the intake was cast iron and it came with an EGR
1- Did the car come with an EGR in Canada
2- In which year did the corvette come with a cast intake and no EGR as the cast intake I have now has no EGR .

I don't have the original mtr in the car . I checked the stamping and it comes out to a 76 corvette mtr

Please define 'expert'? Can a regular joe not answer your question?

All '73 small blocks (both L48 and L82) came with a cast iron intake manifold, casting number 3997771. Some very very late production cars (July onwards) have been seen with 340261.

Both of these manifolds have an EGR valve.

There is/was no difference between Canadian and US non-California pollution equipment, contrary to popular myth.

Post the casting number and date of your present manifold, someone (maybe even a regular joe) might know the what it's from.

You my friend are an expert thank you very much. I just don't want to get busted by the emmisions cops for no EGR . The manifold on the car is not the correct one and I have no idea what its off of but the casting # is 340250 . Its cast and theres no EGR

340250 (and 340249) is for 75-77 L48 and L82 engines , also for '78 L48.

If you want to eliminate the function of the egr just get a gasket that does not have the holes in them that way it will look stock but no super heat intake or carb

I think the number for the above listed engines would be 346249
and it would have the provision for EGR.

You're right. I wonder what the 340250 (no EGR) is from then?

As far as I can tell it has no Corvette applications. A lot of the Chevy
light trucks in 70s and early 80s had cast iron spread bore manifolds
with no EGR. Might be from something like that.
