Ok, sorry about the rant, but it's really starting to bug me. The car about dies when I come to a stop, then it floods. Can you recommend a new carb? Maybe a Carb/Manifold combo. Right now everything I have is stock. If I go with a Edelbrock manifold and carb, will I have clearance issues?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
I currently have a "new" Edelbrock performer series carburetor on my new 350 SB crate engine. I am not very happy with it, it performs inconsistently and is quirky at best. Maybe I will get the bugs worked out of it eventually, but my expectations from a "new" carburetor were not met. After reading many of these threads it seems that most C3 owners favor the good old Q-Jet.
Good Luck!
I'm running the Holley 670 Street Avenger and Elderbrock EPS intake on my 355 and think it is a great combo. However, the Qjet is a great carb and isn't that overly complicated to bring back up to a true performance level. Probably just needs a little TLC. And I agree with Lars that most carb problems are actually timing and/or fuel supply related.
Ask me how I know. On my 355, I pulled and saved my original #'s matching engine and built my current engine from scratch. More from the educational experience than for anything else. Used all good, new accessories that I thought would help me build a dependable DD with some grunt.
I was successful but in retrospect, I could have saved some significant $$$ by reusing my original and reliable Qjet, intake, crank, etc.
Using Lars' papers, you can go through a Q Jet yourself. Otherwise, there a few reputable guys on ebay selling rebuilt Q jets. They will give you your money back or a replacement if you're not happy.
