Default Deck in the console

Okay i just got back inside from looking at the vette and the stock radio in it is shot so im looking at getting a deck, subs, and a amp. But how do i put the new deck into the console. The stock one is way smaller than the new one. I see in ppl's pictures that new decks look as if they were the same size. Do i need to go get a new like "plate" for it to make the deck fit?

Thx

The size of the stock radio is the least of the problem. If it is in fact the stock radio, it has the two shafts that run through the console. If you want CD in your dash, you will either
1. have to cut the console to fit,
2. buy a new console already configured for the DIN style head units,
3. Find an old console and cut that one, saving yours,
4. purchase one of the few available models that still have the ***** and are configured to use a CD changer. I think "Custom AutoSound" makes something like this, and there may be a few more as well.

Just cut it, unless you are worried about it looking original. Stay away from custom auto sound, they blow ***, excuse my french.
