Does anyone have a CFI setup that actually idles smooth? Seriously, I'm still waiting on my engine rebuild so I haven't installed any TPI setup but I have heard of only a couple or few that really think their cards run great.
I hope I don't jinx it, but my 82 CFI starts instantly, idles very smooth and proper at 600 rpm after a couple minutes at about 1100. No surges, great low end power, good gas mileage. Actually, there are a lot of TBI equipped vehicles out there that run great (ie., my 93 Chevy pickup). Just because it has two "carbs" shouldn't mean it can't run as nice. Make sure all is tight, clean, well connected, and don't give up. If you get it like it should be, you'll love it. Remember, it's over twenty years old and needs a bit of tlc. Thangs wear out, ya know Just look at me
If the whole thing was not crappy, the general would have used it for several more years. Sorry, I had one and I still celebrate the day it left my driveway.
the whole list of codes doesn't mean everything has to be replaced. for instance, some of those can be tripped by the coolant sensor problems, if the mixture is constantly rich then it will trip an O2 signal in most cases also.
Is the VSS Code 24 one of the codes that can be tripped by coolant sensor issues? I'm pulling all the speedo cables today, I've a hunch its the upper cable (previous noises make me suspect).
How have you been TT?

Our/her 82 CFI runs like a sewing maching for the most part, just don't add an alarm, or a high draw stereo, hack into the harnesses, swap out the high-output alt for the low output unit, or otherwise "rig" your electrical system. Most injection systems over 25 years old are going to need new sensors at some point. Fresh batteries in the multi-meter? Little stuff makes all the difference, like a bad fuel gauge sensor, reading half full, when car is empty......She's not going to start and she won't have a code........
