Default overfilled the tranny. need advice

After replacing my Th400, I refilled the fluid. I wished I would have installed a plug in the pan while I had it pulled. Question is if it is overfilled by a quart will it damage the tranny? Other than dropping the pan to drain it any other suggestions as to draining the fluid? I though about removing the Tranmission Modulator might be the easiest route. Any help would be great, Matt

Unhook the supply line to the radiator cooler, slip a rubber hose over the open line and direct it into a container. start the car and run for a few seconds till you run out enough. You can always add back if too much comes out.

yep. Don't know if you'll even need to START it actually, if it cranks over fast enough.

put something under the tranny to catch the fluid and remove the dipstick and tube. you can put a pump for a soap bottle or hand cleaner in the dipstick hole and pump out any extra that didnt come out when you pulled the tube, then reinstall the tube and dipstick. If you dont get the excess out it will cause problems for the trans by foaming and if it sits overfull too long it will start leaking all over the place.

I did just replace the torque convertor and flexplate. The new TC did not come with a drain plug. Removing the tranny fill tub is not an option with the clearance I have. I would have to drop the tranny to do this. I will try the siphon meathod or pulling the Tranny modulator. Thanks for the info. I was more worried about damaging the tranny with the extra fluid in there. It does drive great and shift without any problems but that was just a couple of trips around the neighborhood.

I would use some 1/4" clear fuel hose for small engines. Get about 8' of it. Shove it in the dipstick hole and siphon it up. With the clear hose you shouldn't have to drink any of it.

Thanks, I think thats probably the meathod I will try first. I'm just going to use the next door cat for the siphon. I heard cats like radiator and tranny fluid. I don't care for the taste myself.
