Hey guys... Just doing some work in the back and went under to make sure everything is ok, and noticed something. The original fuel lines are there but abandoned. The new fuel line goes from the tank, into a fuel filter (nascar rated fuel filter... looks like a damn oil filter for cryin out loud). from the filter into a Holley red series fuel pump (these two are rubber). A new ... 3/8 inch stainless line has been ran from pump up to engine bay. Here it goes directly into a regulator, and then goes (through a rubber hose) To the carb.
I have read some posts, and hate to ask but what is vapor lock, and is this setup safe/reliable?
If you're car doesn't have starting problems, dont worry about vapor lock.
As for the pump setup, the plumbing sounds OK, but the wiring may be more critical to safety.
The pump should be wired to an oil pressure switch (hobbs switch) which only powers it if the engine is running (has oil pressure). That way if you're in an accident the pump wont keep running and possibly spraying fuel all over the place.

Thanks in advance~!
Sounds similar to the setup I have, and I went to this setup to avoid vapor lock.
Long story short, is when the engine came up to temperature, especially on a hot day, the fuel was vaporizing in the line before it got to the carb and the car would just stall out.
Also ran some insulator tubing on the engine compartment fuel line, just to be safe.
