how many teeth on 81 flexplate?
My headers seem to be frying starters left and right. I am looking at some mini starters that would give more room for heat shields, as well as just being farther from the header. They always say "for 168 (for example) tooth flywheel." Anybody know? Thanks and God bless, Sensei

You're should be a 153 tooth 10.5 inch setup. Which means your flywheel has a 10.5 inch diameter with 153 teeth. Your clutch and pressure plate must also be the same 10.5 diameter.

er...... my '81 has a 168 tooth flexplate AFAIK. I fitted a th200-4r trans & the converter cover hit the flexplate. I was told that this was because the cover was for the smaller 153 tooth plate, whereas the '81 had a 168 tooth one?
I'm confused!
