Swap Meet BB power steering Pump work on C3?
I found two BB P/S pumps today at a good price at a swap meet.Does
anyone know if they will work on a C3?My GM manual on my 68 states that only the vette has a filter internal on the input side and each GM model has a different flow control valve that operates at a different pressure.Does anyone know if you can buy parts for these pumps and how hard are they to overhaul? I have all the parts together to restore my car back to PS but the Pump and brackets.

My parts interchange manual list only one pump, # 5698078. States 67 thru 69 were the same and that 70 thru 74 will work but are not identical.

Just to make sure that we are clear on this. The BB pumps you are talking about came from Corvettes or did they come from 454 pickups? The thing to worry about if you use a pickup truck pump is that even if the reservoir was the same, it might have a much higher pressure relief setting than the Corvette pump. This could cause eventual leakage through the hoses.
The Corvette only had one pump for SB and BB each year and therefore they will interchange. Actually, I think all the Corvette pumps will interchange from 1967 through 1974.
In 1975 (and thereafter) the pulley connection became an interference press fit. So if you are trying to fit a 1975 or later pump into an early C3 you will require the correct press fit pulley to go with the pump.
All the high pressure hose connections on the back of the pump were 45 degree flares with a 5/8-16 nut from 1967 through 1979. In 1980 (and thereafter) the high pressure hose connection on the back of the pump was changed to a metric o-ring fitting with a 16X1.5 nut.
