Default Edelbrock Performer Question?

I'm about to swap out my old edelbrock performer manifold w/ egr for a brand new one w/o egr. Tonite I figured I'd pull the carb and have a little less work to do Saturday. Dont ask me why I'm swapping manifolds, it has nothing to do with the emissions crapola. Anyway, when I look down into the inside of the manifold there are two holes, one on each side of the plenum (?). They go into the floor of the manifold but dont come out the bottom. Looks like they go into a hollow area. My new performer doesnt have these holes. Are they related to the EGR somehow? Are they supposed to be there? It would be great if they werent supposed to be there because that might explain my problem and why I'm changing it to begin with. As always I await your esteemed opinions.
Thx, ESU in NY.

My digital camera is back at Olympus again for repair. So no photos. These holes are fairly large, maybe 1/2 inch or so. There is one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side of that piece of the manifold that seperates the two sides. These holes are under where the carb sits. In other words you cant see it unless the carb is off. They dont appear to be drilled more like they were cast that way. Or maybe a casting plug that came out. Thats the best I can do till I get my camera back. I should probably call Edelbrocks tech people and see what they say.

I probably have the same manifold that you have on your vette now. As I remember there are 2 holes like you said, not to sure what they are for.

i'm back...not sure how i fixed it but anyway.....my intake also has those ports and it worked fine, so i don't think that was your problem unless the EGR was stuck open. In that case it would idle horribly

Bob, glad you're back on. Thx to all for the clarification on the holes. Was hoping it was my problem but wasnt that hopeful. Well, guess I'll see what happens after I do the swap.
