Changes needed for 454 swap?
- Bored .030" (I hate saying 460 cu. in.), 2 bolt main.
- 9.9:1 compression ratio.
- Hydraulic flat-tappet Comp Extreme Energy cam; 574/578 lift, 240/246 duration @.050 (284/296 advertised) 110 degree LSA.
- Harland Sharp roller rockers or Comp roller tip rockers (haven't decided yet; got both lyin' around)
- 2.19/1.88 valves, oval port iron heads
- Performer RPM Air Gap intake, Holley 770 vac. sec. Street Avenger.
- I'm hoping/guessing 460 hp, 520 ft./lb. torque (please correct me if that sounds inaccurate!).
Will the stock diff hold up? What about half shafts and driveshaft (I'll be swapping the TH350 for a TH400 with a street/strip shift kit, probably 3000 stall)? What suspension changes will be necessary? I think I'll need 2" primary with 3" collector headers (I'm thinking Hedman); can I get away with less? Any fan/rad recommendations?
I'll probably swap the rear tires for 255/60/15 BFG drag radials and hit the 1/4 mile about three times a year.
