I just put in a edelbrock performer and it has been a pain getting it to run smooth. The stock intake I took off had 4 ports and the edelbrock has two large ports, I think this may be my problem.....I am using the standard qjet gasket that seals the circumfrence of the qjet, I think I may need some type of adapter between the intake and the qjet carb or maybe I need to use the 4 holed gasket.
Can someone who used the performer as metioned above help me out with what your setup was to mate the qjet to the performer intake, what worked when you switched to the edelbrock. Thanks.
i bought a GM-ZZ4 from Ebay someone had removed from their crate engine.
stock in apperance but i believe its supposed to flow better than stock
couldnt tell you for sure because i havent installed it yet.
with Jackson above. The stock heads are the restricting point in your quest to build engine performance. If you're replacing the manifold because the one you have has failed/ warped/cracked/ I would suggest the Holley/Weiand brand-- Action pus is on mine. Old model now.
If you're just doing it for perf. (or you just need to do something!) you may get into application issues (carb adapts., height, tappings, gasket issues) that could become a headache. A lot depends on your future plans and intended use of the car. By the way- 80's are a great looking ride!
....you're saying NO manifold will improve the performance of an otherwise stock engine??....
NO that's NOT what I said ... but I believe bucket's referring to a stock L48 or L82 ... and a performer 2101 or weiand action plus 8004 ain't gonna do anything for it that'd be noticeable except lighten his wallet ... maybe there is some intake that might make noticeable performance improvement ... but I doubt it ... as restorod 79 said ... stock heads are limiting ... but even more limiting are stock cam & stock exhaust. Another limiter is hood clearance ... there ain't but so many intake configurations that'll fit under a C3 hood. We run 2101 & TWO barrel Holley / Rochester in our circle track cars ... I like 8004 & Qjet in my non-stock C3.
