I upgraded my 79-L82 with stiffer springs, poly mounts and bushings and an adjustable 5/8 rear bar. I'm running the rear bar at about half the max spring tension. The car handles(corners) great but it is so quick that it is kind of scary at highway speed and real scary above that. Its solid and flat but if you even scratch your nose you can change 2 lanes.
Is there any way to dial this set in, does anyone know how much the rear bar spring tension affects it and if so how do a adjust it? ie: is it one turn at a time sensitive?
Also, would it help if I went to spring adjusters on my front bar?
A 5/8" rear bar in a small block car is awfully heavy, especially if you already have heavier springs all around. What are you running for a front swaybar? If the car is real figidity, a lot might have to do with your alignment setup, may be toed out too much.
Tonysmp,
If your vette is twitchy with minor steering input (like changing lanes), your problem is with your alignment.
If your vette makes you nervous when hard cornering, your problem could be a too large rear bar.
After experimenting for several years, I settled on a 5/8" rear bar with an adjustable end link. However, I'm running 255/50/17" z rated tires. If you are using OE size 15" wheels and tires, you should disconnect or reduce the size of your rear bar.
An oversized rear bar and average tires will induce oversteer and possibly a spin. This is a very dangerous condition in wet conditions.
