Rear End difficulties?

Rear End difficulties?
I have recently been looking for a c3 vette for a project car to go for performance not originality and have been informed by a friend that the rear ends on the c3s are pretty much junk, is this true? if so, are there any solutions to this problem? Thanks for the help and I'm still getting one no matter what just because I like the look

The 80-82 are not too good if you're going to drop the pedal a lot.
the 63-79 are iron and depending on the year have different spiders lcutches, carriers, etc. They are good unit but can be made better.
