Mechanical Fuel Pump Replacement Suggestions
Got my '68 out of hibernation and decided to replace rubber fuel line connections and the fuel pump. Anyone have thoughts about these three fuel pump candidates, all about $30-$35? Not going with the correct AC logo one at 6 times the cost:
AC Delco 40482 (replaces 40659 OEM$$$)
Carter M4552
Airtex 40659

If it were mine I would choose the AC because it has a sealed lower housing and fittings, and it has original type appearance. The Carter uses a universal bottom end with screw-in fittings and has multiple bolts holding the housing together with gaskets, not original appearing and could be prone to leaking one day when you least expect it. Just my opinion.

From experience, and this is what I do for a living, go with the AC delco. Airtex are junk and Carter are not what they once were. Fuel pumps are not the most fun to change so why take a chance in doing it twice.
