Default Performer RPM spreadbore or square?

I'm using my Qjet and know that it should use a spreadbore type intake. But the 7104 is more expensive than the sqarebore 7101. So is there a big difference if you use and adaptor on the squarebore for the Qjet? Would I lose hp or CFM? The only thing I can see is an adaptor raises everything and may not fit under stock hood anymore. Anyone check this out?

Your Q-Jet is a spreadbore carb so get the spreadbore intake which will also accept a Holley, which are square bore carbs, without any adapters. If you chose a square bore intake, you'd need an adapter to run your q-jet.

I put the RPM with Q-jet on my 75. It is already significantly taller then the stock hood will allow. I will have to modify the hood, or drop the filter. Adding another .75” or more for an adapter may limit your options.

The 7104 is actually cheaper, only $80. And the 7101 is almost $150. Take a look.

And it fit under my hood with a Q-Jet and a Mighty Demon with the Summit drop base air cleaner.

You should use the spreadbore intake w/ Q/J- no adapter.
ALso not enough clearance for flow to carb w/ adapter. Yes, HP would be down w/adapter & RPM.

Come on guys. You want a Holley or Demon then run a square bore intake. If you want to run a Q-Jet then get the right intake and quit putzing around. I'd rather run a stock intake than trying to bastardize the whole system. I understand that money may be an issue, but just wait until you have enough saved or find a good used one. This instant gratification just doesn't work.

There would be no significant loss of HP running a Holley on an intake designed for either a spread-bore or square-bore carb. You would lose something by utilizing the ugly adapter needed to run a q-jet on a square-bore intake.
