Max time between engine build & install
All,
Everything is still up in the air about my rebuild & I'm still vasilating between a full build, a short block build, or a crate engine. If I build it myself, using the premo build lubes, then how much time can I take for the build? This would be a winter build in south Texas so heat wouldn't be a problem. If I build it myself, then I'll build an engine stand for break-in. I can usually ony squeeze a few hours in on Sat & Sun. for any car work.

I doubt you'd have all the machining equipment to build everything. Can you get a competent engine shop in your area, to build you a shortblock to your specs? And heads? Or, you can purchase some new hi-perf heads that are ready to go out of the box.
Or, have and engine delivered to your door,..plenty of options.

Just finishing mine from bare block up starting in January. Having a mechanic do the work on the engine. Here is the formula I used:
BT= $+AO+CO+BO+BD
HDP
translation:
Build time = dollars+change orders+back orders+budget deficit
divided by honey-do projects

That's about right. It took me 2.5 years to rebuild my 454. Another month to complete the installation working some weekends.
