Default Cooling Fan Relay Location - where?

Where have you all been locating the aftermarket fan relays? Same for the fuel pump relay? I was trying to keep the wires short, but there doesn't appear to be a very good location in the engine bay. Lots of hazards, heat, water, dirt, etc. Like to hear where experience says they do and don't work. Thanks.

On my '72 I put the fan relays on the inside wheel well, just outboard of the alternator. The fuel pump relay went in the jack box compartment, next to the factory alarm stuff. Relays can take the heat.

Mounted on the Driver Side Inner Fender near the Alternator. Also mounted the Fan controller there. Using wiring layout as per MAD. Check out the links. I was never able to get MAD on the phone, always busy. So I got the 8 gauge wire/12 gauge fuseable links , heat shrink tube and terminals from Napa and ordered the terminal block from www.lectriclimited.com (actually ZIP but that's where they get it from)

I put both my Spal relays on the inside of the passenger wheel well... very low, and very far forward... in front of the A-arm near the radiator. It was tough getting them in there, but you cant see them unless you look. This location made for a nice short run to the fans, then allowed me to actually run the power feed thru some holes in the frame back to the starter. I tapped the starter power wire for my fan power. I'd take a pic for you, but I'm out of state...
