Default Advise on wiring harness

Need help ref wiring harness and ECM for a LT1 swap. I have looked at the FAST units =$$$$$$; painless =more ?????? ; Ive seen a few members mention Speartech, has anyone used his setup? I called him and he seem to very honest and up front when answering questions about the products.
Id like anyone to give me any info - 2 cents on this products and any recomendations you have.

I am doing a body off rebuild. I replaced the entire engine wire harness with a harness from Lectriclimited.com. Absolutely a perfect fit. Also the harness is pretested at the factory. I purchased the extensions and grounds as needed.

OMG. I just got sticker shock. While I have my engine out & apart, I went through the harness and found a bunch of splices twisted together and re-wrapped with medical tape. Gotta love it.

I too am doing a engine awap to a LT1 - and in the process of checking things over and preparing my list - I found wires and connectors that were so brittle that they would break in you hand.

Was hoping someone had been through this before and had advise to where to find replacements at a reasonable price.

Hope everyone has been enjoying their somewhat freetime this weekend to enjoy their rides.

Thanks again

I got the same sticker shock, I want to install a new harness also because I don't want to cut up the CFI stuff (too much work) so I decided on starting from scratch with a universal harness instead. I'm relocating the fuse box while I'm at it.. I'm just going to use that and a whole bunch of weatherpack connectors. Should be cheaper than one of those extra expensive harnesses.

If you are good with wiring you can use a stock F-body, Y-body, or B-body harness. Get a wiring diagram-a good one. Take out what you don't need and re-wrap it in harness tape. You still need the ECM modified to remove VATS and whatever else you don't want to use (EGR, canister purge, etc.). If you are not comfortable with wiring, you may have to buy one. For TPI swaps I have used Howell and Fuel Injection Specialties harness. Next one I do for myself I will use a modfied Corsica harness, but you can't do that with LT1. Next one I do for a customer, I will use Street and Performance. I have done 2 Ford 5.0 swaps and used stock harness. 1 is running, the other hopefully later this spring.
