I am trying to get my front rotors seperated from the hub on my 73. I drilled out the rivets and broke the rivet heads off on the outside as discussed in previous threads, but the two remain tightly joined and the rivets don't want to budge. Do I just keep drilling deeper, or is there a trick to getting them out?
If you have not tried pucning them out, try that first. If that fails, it is probably because the rivet head on the inside has grown very chummy with the hub. Try using a chisel to just break the rivet head's grip on the hub, not break it off. I have also had to grind these off occasionally. Then... if all else fails, drill it clear through, then punch it out. I have done all these ways. No fun! Good luck!
