I took my Vette out for another ride today to try and break the rear in a little better. Did so many figure 8's in a parking lot my head is still spinning. Then I took it around at about 30 MPH for 10 or so miles. Then I rode back on the highway at a varying speed of 45-75.
At around 55 MPH,... slowing down to about 30, and riding in between 40-65, I noticed that the rear was making a whistling sound quite similar to the sound coming out of my last (bad) rear. The sound was not nearly as loud as the last rear end, but nevertheless it could be clearly heard with the T-Tops and windows down.
I am worried. This rear end job took me 2 months, and was not cheap my any means. Is this part of the break in proceedure or did I get a rear that wasn't setup properly?
You might want to find out what kind of rear it is. I have a "high Noise" richmond 3.70 rear and it whines when I decelerate or drive at certain speeds. It's supposed to do that. A high pitch noise is not necessarily the sign of something bad. Clunking is usually a bad sign.
