Default Trim plate

aquaholic,
Sorry, no photo, but my '74 has a metal plate with the following:-

J03

416 68L

which means:-

J03 = May 03, 1974
416 = medium saddle leather (interior trim)
68L = dark brown metallic (paint)

According to info obtained from the NCRS website, Corvette #'s 26101 to 26276 were built on May 3 1974, and my VIN is in that sequence. If you don't have a plate there, you might be able to get one from a legal source, or you may have to fabricate one, but make sure it has the correct info on it. You should have no trouble getting the info as long as you know your VIN.

Regards from Down Under

There was a guy selling these on E-bay. Nice reproductions that had correct font on the printing. All my 72 had on it was the Vin# and manufacturing mo. and year. I bought one off E-bay and it passed judging with good comments.

it's not the trim tag that i'm after. it's the info that goes on the blue certification label. the blue label is a sticker with typing on it.

As you've been told on another board, the info varies from car to car. There's no one correct answer for your question. You're sort of asking what should appear one person's birth certificate based on what appears on other peoples.

all thats on the sticker that is unique is the final assembly date which i know for mine, the vin which i know, the gvwr, gvwr front and gvwr rear. thats the info i need. the gvwr, front axle weight and rear axle wieght should NOT be unique to my car. any small block block 74 coupe should be the same. all that is truely unique is the vin number.

Nope. Sorry. The weight varies with every option, + or -.

Good luck.

challenge....

If the sticker lists the gross vehicle weight... which I believe it does, that is the total weight the car can handle fully loaded. This would be different for a bigblock that has heavier springs than a smallblock, but I could see it being the same for all smallblock cars with the same suspension. Adding p/s or a/c shouldnt change the Gross Vehicle Weight. Curb weight would change, but not Gross vehicle weight. That is the weight of the car + 2 passengers plus a full tank of gas + luggage + however much else the manufacturer thinks it can take.

Anyway, should be pretty easy to check. Just look at a few smallblock stickers for 74 and if they show different weights.... then I am wrong!

Well, I'm not going to give you a photograph of my serial number, and my '74 is an LS-4 with A/C, P/S, and P/B, so this info may be useless to you, but here it is: The usual "Manufactured by GM....." 01/74 is at the top. GVWR 4263 Frt 2113 Rr 2150 comes next. These numbers are Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, which assumes that the car is fully loaded with passengers, a full tank of fuel, and some level of luggage that I don't remember. Hope this helps at some level.

Steve

thanks steve. mine is a L48. the guy who makes the stickers looked it up for me also. this is what i went with: GVWR 4041 GAWR FRT 1922 REAR 2119. thanks for looking, i appreciate it. the car gets judged in june so we'll see how i do. is the date on your sticker the same as the date on your trim tag? the judging manual says the trim tag is dated when the body is assembled (which is before it is mated with the frame and motor) but it doesn't say when the blue cert sticker is dated and attached .

for what its worth, the guy who is making me the sticker looked up these numbers GVWR 4041 GAWR FRT 1922 REAR 2119 which are exactly the same as yours. looks like i just need the small block weights and i'll be in business.
