After some trial and error with this high compression 383 I decided to go back to a breather on one valve cover and pcv on the other. With 2 open air breathers I was just getting too much oily mist in the engine bay. Well, the pcv is helping a little but now it seems to be causing another problem. I'm running a Vic Jr. intake and there is no vacuum port so I'm using the big port on the back of my Mighty Demon carb. I've come out with a short rubber tube and then T'd that off. One side goes to brake booster and other side goes to vacuum components and pcv. Well, after doing this I noticed that my brakes don't work so well anymore. I'm getting good pressure but have chalked it up to not getting much vacuum to the booster.
It seems that now with the pcv hooked into the same source that it's getting oily mist in the T and then not letting the T seal with the hose going to the booster.
So it looks like I've got 2 choices, tap another line into the intake, which I don't really want to do, or somehow make the vacuum T fitting seal better.
So that's my question, is there a bubba way to make the hose seal better with the little plastic T's? I tried putting a zip-tie around the hose where it pushes over the T but that doesn't seem to help much. I was thinking maybe adding some kind of material or goo between the T and the hose???

Do not connect the brake booster and PCV valve to the same hose or fitting. You'll lose vacuum and have no power brakes. You have to find or make another hose connection to the intake manifold. If you have no more connections in the carb base plate and no holes in the intake, tee off another vacuum connection but leave the brake booster on its own connection. You can also drill & tap a separate hole in the back of the plenum on the intake manifold. The issue is that the PCV hose is always drawing air-it never reaches a deep vacuum. No other vacuum connection should be connected to the PCV hose. The other vacuum users such as brake booster, distrib advance, headlight doors have sealed ends and those hoses run at engine vacuum.
I had a similar problem with the single demon vacuum port which not only messed up the brakes but the headlight operation as well. The PCV connection through the valve was acting as a vacuum leak since the valve was not fully closed and my block will only draw vacuum to 7 in. with the open connection on the other valve cover to the air cleaner. My fix was to create a 'metered orifice' in the line from the T to the PCV valve. I did it by cutting another hose of smaller od/id about 1 inch long and slipping it into the hose to the PCV, reducing the inner restriction of the T to PCV hose (actually had to do two hose in hose to get to the final 1/8-3/16 id restriction). This raised the brake and light vacuum enough to restore full brakes and headlight function as well as allowing the PCV to work.
OK, I pulled off the line that had the pcv and accesories from the main T, plugged that end of the T and my brakes are back. I am going for now to use the small port on the side of the Demon carb for the pcv and accessories and the one in the rear for the brakes.
