front springs what is wrong?
I am installing new springs in my 76 she is a 4 speed car with no AC.
This should be simple but its not!!!!
The parts stores keeps sending me part number #FSC5758s these springs are 13 inches tall and have 6 coils.
The springs that came out of the car are 15 1/2 tall and have 9 coils.
The wire is a little bigger in dia. on the new ones but only a 1/16 if that!
What the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any ideas would help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

return the springs and order them from a corvette supply such as vette brakes or any other major vette supplier.

Vette Brakes & Products, I used them a few weeks back and it was a simple swap & they perform awesome. They're actually less expensive than OEM ones.

Use the springs. The replacement springs are thicker diameter wirel, has fewer coils and will be easier to install.

The photo you show is exactly what the 2 pair I have look like, While I understand the idea of thicker wire. I sure dont want to do it again. Have you installed yours yet Jughead?

Would the rate be the same for both springs? Fewer coils + thicker stock should equal higher rate?
Someone set me straight.

Depends, where your old springs worn out....real bouncey? I re-did my entire front end at the time so the difference was like night & day.
I have a set of VBP's 550's for a BB still to install in the garage.
