70 LT-1 Muncie shifter short throw setup?

After taking it out for a short spin around the neighberhood last weekend, I decided to re-investigate why. Now I remember........see photo belowThe upper position on the shifter bracket does not have the slot around the hole like the lower position does. My 69 & 70 BB both have brackets that allow short throw. I am not sure but I think the 72 LT-1 does also. Anyway, anyone know what is correct. Everything else is original on the 70 LT-1 so i have no reason to believe these brackets aren't

Slot around what hole?
The slotted hole at the bottom of your photo attaches to the transmission shift point. The center hole on the shift lever (between where your shifter rod is currently attached and the bottom "slotted" hole) is where you need to move the shifter rod to achieve the short throw you are looking for. The deep slot of the shift bracket still allows the shift rod to work in the center hole without interference.

Can't remember what the problem was back then. but, I will have to investigate further.Bullshark
