Currently I am starting the process of rebuilding the suspension of my 82. urathane bushing pretty much new everthing under it. I was planning on going with a TRW fiberglass rear spring 330 lbs/in and 460lbs/inch coils up front (mid america refers to them as grand touring springs)with Bilstien shocks all round. while reading there ad I noticed it said these are great for small block low option cars. so my qustion is since my car is not a low option car should i go with 550lbs./in coil instead?
I just finished installing exactly the setup you described, with the addition of a .75" rear bar. Very happy with it. If I drove my car less for cruising and weekend trips with my wife, and instead drove it more for stuff like autocrossing, I could see going with the higher rate springs, and/or stiffer bars. I can tell you that it is very, very flat in corners and just has a wonderful feel in terms of steering response. Much improved cornering over the stock setup, although the old springs were so deteriorated that it really isn't a fair comparison.

Re: suspension Question (classicguy)

No !!
I installed the 550 lbs on a car with 350 / auto / AC.
They raised the front of the car 2 inches !! And the ride is stiff, but we don't have potholes to worry about.
I will be changing to either the FRONT mono tranverse spring or the 460's with 1 coil cut.
I have a 340 LB mono rear spring and love it.
See my write up in the Tech section on how to install the rear spring. I did mine on my 1980 in about 2 hours (with breaks for beer  )
Thanks for the information. I only plan to drive the car for normal street crusing with an ocasional trip to the canyon. So with your info I am going to stick with the the 460 lbs coils and 330lbs in rear. Good thing since i already ordered them few days ago. also another Qustion my front sway bar is the largest 1 1/8 inch could this car had a heavy duty suspension. cant tell have not driven other c3 vetts plus my spring have been cut or there very saggy.
There are few ways to built suspensions, mostly recomended for street high performance are littlebit softersprings (like you did) and good shocks (like you did!!actually best ones!) and biggest swaybars,so you are on right tracks.
and btw 550 springs (if bought from VB DONT affect your ride height!!!)
I would go bigger wheels if iwere you, 16" or 17" ! You cant belive how much 15" tires are giving suspension performance away!!!
