Hey Guys,
Having a problem with the bolt, spring washer and washer on the 'A" Arm of my '72, they keep falling out. Looking for suggestions please. This is annoying when I only travel 50k and the darn thing is found sitting on the driveway. The bolt will tighten up well so the thread is not stripped. Not real keen on using loctite etc as someday I might want to replace the bushings. Any suggestions please.
Its the large dished washer binding on the bushing when the a-arm pivots. When the bolt is tight up againts the large washer the bolt rotates with the washer if its binding againts the rubber bush which eventualy causes it to work loose.
Flip the dished washer round the other way for now,so it curves outwards away from the bush and only comes into contact with the shaft.should help.
I bought poly bushes for my a-arms and had to do this with all of them as my kit didnt come with flat washers.
Had the same problem when I put in poly bushings. Keeping the bushings lubed helps but they still come loose. The solution was cam type lock washers. I still check them once in a while out of habit but have not had one come loose since. If you can't find them localy try McMaster-Carr they call them "permanently tight lock washers". I used the stainless ones with ARP bolts, problem solved. They are not cheap so order just what you need. Remember that the lowers are larger so you don't have to order twice.
