How often should the rear wheel bearings be greased?
What is involved in using one of those rear wheel bearing grease tools? Other than removing the half shaft, what else needs to be removed in order to mount the grease tool?
The tool is junk. They have to be pulled apart and rebuilt. It is not possible todo maintenance on those bearings. I would monitor and check the bearings for play and noise. It you detect any problems then do not delay in rebulding, If they have never bee done...do them now.

The rear wheel bearings on my c3 have never been touched. No grease or maintenance. There appears to be very little end play in either direction.
Are these bearings self lubricating? Is it a sealed unit? Or do they need to be greased?
I have not experienced any problems with the rear wheel bearings during the past 37 years, however, I am not sure about how long they can go without any maintenance.

I added more grease using a grease hypodermic needle sold by napa - i wasnt having ay problems but wanted to add some fresh lube - pulled the half shaft and spindle nut - 15000 mi now and no problems - dave
I would change them out. After being in there for that long they are going to be hard to get out and only get worse. I had to heat up the inside bearing on the passanger side to get it to break loose from the spindle. What ever you do do not forget to order the shim kit or you will be stuck with out a car to drive while they ship them to you. Dont ask why i know this, haha. good luck
