Default Hood Clearance Issues!!

Trying To Wake Up A Tired L48, Installing Edelbrock Heads(edl609790 And Manifold #2116 Using The Stock Carb. Apparently It's Not Going To Clear The Stock Hood. Is There A Hood Available With More Clearance (ie. A Big Block Hood)

Cheers

i don't know if the big block hood will offer that much difference... but the L-88 hood willl....but most difference is finding the right drop base air filter to fit he setup.

I put an Edelbrock Performer Manifold on my '76 with the stock Q-jet and had the same problem. I went to Advanced and got one of those Holley air filters that is triangular and looks kind of "mushroom like" and it cleared the hood. Eldelbrock makes one too, it's called the "Pro-Flo". That may be an alternative to a new hood.

I personally like the looks of the L-88 hood... very agressive.

I have an edelbrock intake and the BIG 1970 air cleaner....just needs a very low nut on top to clear the hood....maybe you are missing by just the height of the nut on top of the air cleaner?
