Flooring Accel Blows Fuse

What Would Cause An 82 Collector Edition To Blow The Gages Fuse Immediately Upon Flooring The Accelerator????

I don't know about 82s but my 74 has a switch on the accelerator pedal that controls the air door on the hood. At WOT the door opens via a solenoid. If your 82 has this door and there is a short in the wiring to it you could blow fuses. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Does this happen when you floor the pedal with the key in the run position, but with the motor off? If so, there may be a bare spot on one of the wires that's shorting out with the accelerator pedal mechanism when it rubs at WOT. Just a thought.
