Default Strut Rod mount mods

I bought these strut rods at Pomona a few months ago. About 15 years ago, I was to broke/cheap to buy smart struts, so I built this 1/2" spacer to lower the mounting points. Well, I decided not to waste the spacer, and mounted it under this new strut rod mount. I have zero camber change at full drop. Here are pictures. Is there an ideal lower than stock location for the inner strut rod mount? Mine is about 3" lower than stock.

I'm just wondering that with the struts lowered under the spring is there more stress placed too low under the spring? The original location placed the pressure toward the center of the spring; now this angle is lower and the pressure is at a different angle. How does tis affect the handling of the rear of the car? I like the looks of it but was wondering how this affects how the spring works and how the difference in the stress affects handling? Very interesting!

The system originally designed by Guildstrand called for the strut rods and half shafts to be parallel. This resulted in something close to 1 degree of camber change with full rear suspension travel. I would try to determine how close to parallel you are now before changing the drop. The change in drop from parallel (+ or -) will determine if it induces positive or negative camber with suspension travel,... and that I will leave to the professionals.

My Smart Struts are installed with the rods parallel to the half shafts.

Good luck… GUSTO

You have the lowered strut mount, it looks like you have overkill. I would just use the mount you have, without the spacer.

You could send me the spacer, since you don't need it!
