Default L88 Hood Scoop

I just grafted an L88 aftermarket hood scoop on my '72. I thougth it came out pretty good, though it's a bit shorter then an original. I now can run the tall air cleaner I want, but what I can't get over is the amount of air that gets purged out the rear of the scoop evan at idle. I can feel it just by putting my hand over the opening. Not that my car ever ran warm, but this should have quite an effect on engine cooling, as well as getting more cool air to the carb.

Looks good! I'm thinking about putting Black open cell foam in my opening in the rear of the scoop

That is probably worth doing for a reason you may not be fully aware of. If you are running a belt driven fan on the water pump, it can blow (launch) small pieces of dirt or debris thru the opening an pit your windshield. The L-88 air chamber protected against this when installed.
