Headlight Restoration
I've been moving forward on my frame-on restoration and I'm almost finished with the engine compartment (engine is out and hood is off). I'm looking for recommendations for how to proceed with the headlight mechanisms. I'm planning on changing the hoses, but I'm not sure what else to replace. Remove them and add a rebuild kit? Any help?

Were the headlight assemblies raising and lowering as they should before you took her down for restoration? If so, you're in good shape and you ought to be okay after the hose swap. You are going to need a vacuum source (engine or alternate) in order to track headlight probelms. My advice would be to move ahead with getting the engine back in and running, then take a look at headlight operation.

A simple rebuild/replacement of all those pesky little nylon bushings & springs is cheap insurance for the future. Check out DocRebuild for all the "little" stuff in the headlight assemblies. How about replacing the seals & dust boots on the actuators? Better NOW than after she's all assembled...
