NOS kits: which one?
Hi all I'm looking at the Nitrous oxide kits on the market
I have seen a few that are pretty good looking
One that caught my eye was this Sneaky Pete http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...6&lastcat=2349
Then this Sniper kit http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...553&prmenbr=76
Or should I piece together a kit
My goal is 50-75 horsepower but will probably shoot 100 a few times
Thanks

First of all the Sneeky Pete is really designed for a stealth easy to hide 1/4 mile cheater system. You have to run your setup on the very rich side because the Pete delivers N2O only, no fuel. So it's not a good choice for a driver. You'd also have to refill it all the time as the cylinder is very small.
I have the sniper kit (haven't used it yet though), and some various parts from other kits (cheater solenoids I think). The big difference is the solenoids, which can cost about $80 each if purchased separately. The sniper solenoids are dinky, and make me a little nervous with my overpriced 383. If a fuel solenoid goes out on you, there goes your motor. The bottle seems pretty nice, and the fittings are stainless & aluminum. The better kits probably have slightly nicer fittings. I'd personally go for the Powershot kit which looks like it has beefier solenoids. To get adjustability you just have to buy more jets.
I think Nitrous kits are another example of you-get-what-you-pay-for unfortunately. You might also want to look into the Nitrous Express kits, I think they are cheaper than NOS systems, and a lot of guys like them. One problem with nitrous kits is I don't think they like mechanical fuel pumps too much, because of the varying fuel line pressure from RPM & the pump action. At the least I think you'd want to run a fuel pressure regulator and better yet an electric pump. You also might want to think about a fuel pressure safety switch, which shuts off the nitrous if your fuel pressure drops.
If I hook up my system, I'm going to go all out with a larger stainless fuel line, electric pump, regulator, and even a progressive controller because I run street tires. The only problem is after all that crap, you just paid for half a blower - which doesn't need refills.

The new Top Shot from NOS is pretty cool. The unit is concealed inside the air cleaner, the injector slides over the carb stud, its adjustable between 75-150HP and unlike the Sneaky Pete, it delivers both fuel and air:

I would run the NOS Super Power Shot. It is adjustable from 100 to 150 HP and they make it for the Quad. It is a fairly safe system that will give a nice kick in the pants.

Re: NOS kits: which one? (ZD75blue)
darn
I was hoping to run a plate if nothing else so either way I'll be around 500 dollars to get it all together (new manifold, kit, bottle, time)
Maybe I should just put in a different rear gear and call it even  (like that'll ever happen)

I have been toying with the idea of NOS for a month now and have decided to go ahead and do it. I am going to go with the NOS Super Powershot cause its adjustable. Like others have said, definitely get the fuel pressure safety switch. I am probably going to go with a electric fuel pump, have a regulator already, and going to add a MSD 6AL at the same time with a possibility of a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind since I do a little racing. Just make sure you use all the safety sswitches and be safe with it!

Summit has the 1/2 inch thick spray plate called the NOS Power shot $393.50 with jets from 50-175
I have the NOS ProRace fogger on a tap and drilled Team G manifold with twin stage 125 hp shots for a total of 250. Or if you have a big enough sack you could put on the twin 250 hp shots.
The guy I got it from was breaking cranks and pistons at the 375 hp level In a 425 ci stroker small block.

Re: NOS kits: which one? (ZD75blue)
Yes, it's not that it won't fit. The problem is that the spray bars run front to back under the carb. The stock manifold is not open in this area. You would be spraying nitrous/fuel into a large flat area on top of the manifold instead of down into the plenum. Not good.

If I had a stock motor and could not use a spray bar, just install a fogger underneath the air cleaner. Alittle bit of Dremel tool and a bracket, what a cheater system. NOS has the new system, just piece it together.

I have the Edelbrock system and it is about $350 from Summit. It has 50,75 and 100hp jets and looks like a quality setup. Haven't used it yet, still in the back of the car in a box.:( I need to get an external vent for it too since its mounted in the passenger compartment.

Here's a good deal on a used system minus a bottle. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=594493774

The spray tube is nearly centered in the 1/2 inch plate. I have seen them on unmodified dual planes. If you have concerns I would call NOS tech line and ask.
Right in the summit cat. They have part numbers for both Holley 4 barrel or Quadrajet applications

Re: NOS kits: which one? (Cam Potter)
I can't remember the last time I saw a stock intake manifold. Would you refresh my memory because I gave it away years ago but my 79 L-82 aluminum manifold wasn't a 4 hole - was it? :conehead
Dual plane - I was referring to aftermarket aluminum.
