I need to replace the oil pan gasket and rear main seal on my '77 350. While I'm at it I want to replace the oil pan. I was looking on Jegs and summits web site but not sure what will fit. I am looking for a 4 or 5qt pan. Any ideas?
Thanks

ive got a perfect stock pan from my 1982. first 45 bucks gets it. i also have a melling hv55 high volume pump with 2500 miles in perfect condx 25 bucks and of course buy em both and it will be less.
I find some very good prices at our local hotrod parts houses. I bought a great 7 quart oil pan locally that was substancially lower in price than Jegs or Summit. It sealed perfectly with a felpro one piece gasket and with a 1 qt. filter I have 8 quarts of oil lubing and cooling the engine with the same ground clearance as stock.

don't by any cheap stuff off ebay. I do a lot of buying a selling on ebay, but remember, if it's not name brand, you get what you pay for.
I had front seal leak. So I figured, replace the timing cover with a fancy new one. I had a leak at the lip where the pan met the cover. So then, Glensgages sends me a REALLY nice SBC chrome oil pan. I tried it with the cheapo timing cover I got off ebay. That combo STILL leaked. Finally, I took the new front cover off and reinstalled the old nasty looking one with a new seal. This time no leaks.
Turns out that channel on the front cover was leaking between the the channel and the cover. .
Whatever you use, get the Felpro one-piece pan gasket.
Captain,
I can't remember which pan I have but it has the baffles inside and sealed perfectly with the felpro one piece gasket. I also installed ARP studs to make installation easier. Most rod shops can advise you on good products.

I've got the Summit 7 qrt oil pan with a 1 piese gasket, it leaks plus there is VERY little ground clearance, I will be cleaning up the old pan and pick up tube to change it back. I just hope it will clear for the bigger 383 stoker.
