Default Engine to chassis ground connection?

Where is the engine to chassis ground connection supposed to be? I don't have a specific ground connection now. I bought a cable from Zip. It's about a foot long. I'm still trying to solve my battery/alternator/starter/grounding problem.

i use one that is longer then that and i ground a clean spot on the engine block just above the where the starter is on a threaded Hole located in the middle of the block below the head, connected one end there and then it runs to the engine mounting horn and is mounted on the inside of that

Bob - Where is your connection on the chassis? "Engine mounting horn" is a new one on me.
Thanks

That's the unit that the motor mount bolts to!

I used a hole on the front of the engine or head (don't remember) that was already threaded (probably an A/C bracket hole) and the other end as Bob stated.

On my car, the motor mount bolts to a support/bracket on the frame. That bracket is welded to the frame. No place to attach a bolt.

Mine runs from the middle of the passenger side block to under the passenger engine mount. There were bolts in both places.

I'm thinking of drilling a hole in the chassis near the motor mount and bolting the ground cable there and on the block at the starter support bracket bolt hole. Any reason why this shouldn't work?

Nope, but it won't pass an NCRS inspection.

on my '78, the ground cable bolts to the block on the same bolt that the top of the starter motor brace uses and than bolts to the frame on the motor mount frame flange (engine mounting horn).
don't forget to use a star washer when you attach it to the frame so you get a good ground connection thru the paint on the frame.

OK - so I will drill a hole.

Jughead - When you look under my hood, I'm definitely in the Not Correctly Restored category.

Thanks guys
