Default Tips for Rebulding the Trailing Arms

I took off both rear trailing arms to replace all the bushings and the rotors. But I can not get the trailing arm assemble apart. Do you have to drill out the 4 rivit ends at the backside of the assemble to get it apart.

No the rivets are actually a bolt that is pressed in. Check the other side near the rotor and you will see 4 nuts attached to the bolts and can only come out with a wrench.

Remove the parking brake hardware and you'll see the 4 nuts he's talking about.

Why are you taking the trailingarm apart, are you changing the wheel bearings aswell?

The bearings are a press fit on the spindel, you will need a press to get it apart. Unless you have the tools to seperate, accurately shim and assemble, the best tip is to send them to Van Steel. I have been there and done that.

So there is no way to get the assembly apart without a press?

You need a press tool to get them out and a hydraulic press.

Setup Tool

Bearing Puller

Plus an H- frame Hydraulic Press

After doing this recently, if you don't already have all the equipment, send them to Vansteel or someone who does these on a regular basis.

Jake this should help.

If you have tools, an indicator and access to a grinder you can do it. I wouldn't attempt it without a grinder unless you settle for a close job. I prefer to get them dead on.

Good luck let me know if you have any questions.
